A 150 mm bench vise handles the heavier work that the 125 mm can't reach: full DH stanchion service where the fork legs are 35 mm or larger, e-bike motor-mount fasteners that take significant breakaway torque, larger frame work where the workpiece itself is heavier than a typical road frame. The Irongator 150mm is sized for the shops that work across the full bicycle range, from road to gravel to MTB to e-bike.

The 150 mm jaw width covers every standard bicycle workpiece and most of the heavy hardware a working shop encounters. The cast-iron body gives the mass that keeps the vise stable under heavy load; the kind of breakaway pressure a stuck e-bike motor mount requires, or the impact load from working a press-fit headset cup loose. The base is wide enough to mount solidly to a 2-inch bench top.

The Irongator quick-release system

A lever on the side of the vise disengages the lead screw from the moving jaw. Open the vise to full-width or close it to nearly closed in seconds without spinning the screw through every turn. Re-engage the lever and the lead screw grips again under full clamping force. For a working shop doing dozens of clamp-and-release operations per day, the minutes-per-day savings are real.

Replaceable jaws

The hardened steel jaws grip steel cleanly. For finish-sensitive work, install our Aluminum Jaws 722.1AL (sized specifically for the 150 mm Irongator). The swap takes seconds; most working shops keep both sets near the vise: hardened for raw steel work, aluminum for anything with a finish to preserve.

Pipe jaws sit under the flat jaws for round-stock work (a fork crown, a seatpost, a tube during accessory installation). The pipe jaws engage cylindrical workpieces at four points, holding them rigidly without crushing.

The integrated anvil

The body has an anvil section cast into it. For seating press-fit cups, persuading stuck bearing races, peening a fastener flush; the anvil is the working surface. A separate anvil costs $50–$150 and takes bench space; the Irongator's integrated anvil makes that purchase unnecessary for most working shops.

Compared to the 125 mm

The 125 mm Irongator suits smaller benches and road/gravel-focused shops. The 150 mm is the choice for shops with heavier MTB or e-bike service work, or shops with enough bench space to accommodate the larger body. Both share the same construction; the difference is jaw width and overall mass.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The Irongator line is Unior's premium bench vise; same cast-iron-and-hardened-steel construction Unior has been making for over a century, sized for the working bicycle shop. The quick-release lead screw is Unior's own design, refined across multiple vise generations.

Pro tip from our mechanics

A 150 mm vise's mass is sometimes the deciding factor on whether a stuck part comes loose at all. The mass dampens the impact load when you strike the workpiece, which keeps the vise body stable while the impact transfers to the part instead. A lighter vise transmits the impact back through the body and walks across the bench; the 150 mm Irongator stays put.
