Frequently asked questions

Are Sinter brake pads sintered or organic?

They are organic. Despite the name, Sinter makes only organic, ceramic-loaded, resin-bound pads; none of its compounds are sintered metal or semi-metallic. Organic pads run cooler at the caliper, give more lever feel and modulation, stay quieter, and wear the rotor less than sintered pads. How do I find the right Sinter model for my caliper?

Each Sinter model number is one pad shape, and a shape often fits several calipers across brands. Pull one of your current pads and compare the backing-plate outline, mounting tab, and retaining-pin hole with the product photos; if the old pad has a model number stamped on the back, match that too. Do new Sinter pads need bedding in?

Yes. Fresh pads need bedding in so the compound transfers an even layer onto the rotor and reaches full power. After fitting, follow our bedding-in procedure for disc brake pads before judging the brake. Re-bed if you switch compounds on the same rotor: the new pad otherwise sits on the old transfer layer and runs noisy with an inconsistent bite until its own film replaces it.
