Drop-bar Shimano hydraulics put the bleed port up under the hood, where no funnel sits square without a brass adapter. That adapter is this kit's defining piece: it covers every pre-2026 Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, GRX, and Tiagra, plus the whole flat-bar family, with bleed blocks for both lever types in the box.

Drop-bar Shimano hydraulics bleed differently from the flat-bar levers most service videos cover. The lever's bleed port sits up under the hood rather than on top of the master cylinder, and a brass funnel adapter gets you a vertical seat for the mineral-oil column above the lever. The Premium Road Shimano Bleed Kit is the kit our shop reaches for on every Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, GRX, and Tiagra bleed that comes through the stand. The kit's brass dropbar adapter turns the lever's angled bleed port into a clean vertical mounting point for the funnel.

What's in the kit

The funnel is a 30 ml transparent syringe body with a brass M5 thread, paired with a stainless-steel threaded plug and hanger that lets the funnel stop sit off-bench during the dwell phase. The caliper side is a 20 ml syringe with a long-lasting tube and a stainless-steel tube insert that guides into the bleed nipple. The brass dropbar adapter is the kit's distinctive piece; without it, no funnel sits square on a road lever's bleed port.

Compatibility

The Premium Road kit fits every pre-2026 Shimano drop-bar hydraulic brake: Dura-Ace through the R9200 generation, Ultegra through R8170, 105 hydraulic, GRX, and Tiagra hydraulic. The kit also covers all Shimano flat-bar hydraulic brakes (XTR, XT, Saint, Zee, SLX, Deore, Alivio, Acera, Alfine, Metrea), so it is a one-kit answer for a mixed road / MTB Shimano fleet. It does not fit the 2026 R9300 and R8270 drop-bar levers, which use the new M7 funnel thread; that generation needs a separate M7 adapter Bleedkit.com is preparing as a follow-on accessory.

Built in Ljubljana, since 2011

Bleedkit.com builds kits matched to specific brake systems in Ljubljana, Slovenia and has done so since 2011; distribution in North America runs through Euro Toolworks, the same parent organisation that brings Unior cycling tools to the US market. Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The dropbar adapter in this kit is the part that earns its place on a road-service bench: it makes the lever's angled bleed port behave like a vertical column, which is what the mineral-oil dwell phase needs.

Pro tip from our mechanics

A clean dropbar bleed runs the gravity-bleed clamp closed on the caliper-end syringe before the lever-end funnel goes on, then opens the clamp once the funnel is full. Working the opposite order pulls air down the line during the funnel install and you spend the next ten minutes chasing it back up. The kit's clamp is what makes the closed-system part of the procedure mechanical rather than improvised.

From the press

A bleed port that's been relocated to the side of the caliper and a separate bleed valve screw aim to make maintenance easier, with no need to remove the rear caliper from the frame.

It's nice to have mineral oil instead of DOT fluid when it's time to bleed.
