BSA30 is the threaded BB shell that hosts a 30 mm spindle: standard 1.37" × 24 TPI BSA threading on the shell side, but cups bored for 30 mm rather than the conventional 24 mm. Race Face Cinch BSA30 cups use a 16-notch outer engagement at the BSA30 OD; that's the cup geometry the 2620/2BI-US is cut to fit. The cup OD is wider than a standard 24 mm HT2 cup, which means a standard 16-notch HT2 wrench will rock on the engagement and round the notches under install torque.
The 2620/2BI-US is the wrench cut specifically for the 16-notch BSA30 cup. The notch profile sizes to the BSA30 outer engagement; the bi-material handle gives a clean hand-grip for off-bench prep, and the laser-cut 1/2" square drive at the head accepts a torque wrench when the cup is ready to be torqued to its install spec.
Socket vs. wrench: which to reach for
The catalog offers two options for 16-notch BSA30 cups: this wrench (2620/2BI-US, fixed handle + 1/2" square drive) and the Aluminum BB Socket BSA30 (socket-only, 1/2" square drive). The choice is workflow-driven: the wrench is the everyday tool when the cup is on the bike and the handle's leverage gets the cup started or backed off without a separate ratchet; the socket is the right tool when a torque wrench is already in hand for the final install torque.
Compatibility
- 16-notch BSA30 cups (Race Face Cinch and other 16-notch BSA30 patterns)
- Not for Praxis M30 (Praxis cups use a 12-notch ~46.3 mm OD pattern; use the 12-Notch BB Wrench 1671.9/2DP for those)
- Not for PF30 / PF30A press-fit shells; those need a press-fit bearing remover
- Not for standard 24 mm-spindle HT2 cups; use the 16 Notch BB Wrench 1609/2BI-US
Specs
- Material: premium flex plus carbon steel, hardened and tempered
- Handle: bi-material grip (comfort + slip-resistance)
- Drive: 1/2" square drive at the head for torque-wrench attachment
- Notch fit: BSA30 outer profile
- Includes: the wrench itself
Built in Zreče
Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The 2620/2BI-US is the dedicated wrench for the 16-notch BSA30 cup geometry; shops working on Race Face Cinch-equipped frames pull this wrench off the bench far more often than a Shimano-pattern HT2 wrench would seat on the same cup.
Pro tip from our mechanics
BSA30 keeps BSA's per-side thread handedness: drive-side reverse-threaded (loosens clockwise), non-drive normally threaded. Same rule as a standard BSA HT2 install. The wider cup OD doesn't change the thread direction. The mistake to watch for is over-torquing: 30 mm-spindle BSA cups don't have a universal published torque value, and the band varies by crankset manufacturer. Verify the specific crankset's published install torque before applying final force; Shimano's 35–50 Nm HT2 spec is the wrong reference here.
