A multitool's job is to do several jobs without becoming several tools. The 1700VH is the part of a Unior multitool kit that does two: it's the handle for the multitool chain breakers, and it's the valve core tool for the trail. One piece of metal, two trail-side jobs that would otherwise need two separate pieces of kit.

The chain-breaker handle role is the structural one. The 1700VH is the handle that Unior's multitool chain breakers attach to for leverage; without it, the chain-breaker body is too small to grip cleanly under load. The same piece has a slotted jaw at the working end that accepts a valve core and turns it out. The slot fits both Presta and Schrader cores, so a single tool covers the trail-side valve work for any wheel-size bike in the kit.

The 1700VH is the everyday companion to a Unior multitool kit, not a standalone workshop tool. Pair it with a Unior multitool and the multitool gains valve-core service plus chain-breaker leverage without adding another piece. The workshop counterpart is the larger Valve Core Tool 1755/2; the 1755/2 is what stays on the bench, the 1700VH is what goes in the saddle bag.

Built in Zreče, Slovenia

Unior has been forging hand tools in Zreče since 1919, and is the official technical partner of multiple World Tour and downhill teams. The dual-function logic is a Unior trail-tool design choice that recurs across the multitool catalog; one piece of metal covering two jobs is how a multitool kit stays small enough to ride with. The 1700VH is one of the clearer examples of that logic; chain breakers and valve cores both want a leverage handle, and giving them the same one cuts a tool out of the kit while still covering both jobs.

Pro tip from our mechanics

A flat on the trail is rarely just a flat; it's a flat plus the diagnostic question of whether the valve core is still good or whether the puncture has compromised the casing. With the 1700VH and a spare core in the kit, a slow-leak that's actually a tired valve core gets solved trail-side rather than turning into a walk home. Our How to remove and install a bike tire → covers the diagnostic sequence (puncture vs. valve vs. seal) and how to triage which to fix first, plus the tubeless-sealant-through-the-valve-core-out installation procedure that prevents the core from gumming up in the first place.
