The fasteners above 20 Nm are the ones that hold the bike together. Cassette lockring at 40 Nm. Crank-arm bolt at 40-50 Nm depending on the manufacturer. Pedal threads at 35-40 Nm. BB cups at 35-50 Nm. Disc-brake rotor lockrings on Centerlock at 40 Nm. Miss any of these by the wrong amount and the failure is either a cracked thread or a part backing out under load; the failures that strand a rider mid-ride.
The 266B 4.2-85 Nm electronic torque wrench is the bench-side companion to the 1-20 Nm wrench. Same electronic readout, same buzzer-and-LED feedback at the set value, same peak-hold; bigger drive and bigger range.
What this wrench is for
- Cassette lockring torque (typically 40 Nm Shimano/SRAM)
- Crank-arm pinch-bolt or center-bolt torque (manufacturer-specified, typically 35-50 Nm)
- Pedal-thread torque (typically 35-40 Nm)
- BB cup torque (typically 35-50 Nm depending on standard)
- Centerlock rotor lockring torque (typically 40 Nm)
- Brake-caliper post-mount adapter bolts that exceed the 1-20 Nm range
- Through-axle torque on some frame standards (manufacturer-specified, often into the 12-15 Nm low end of this wrench)
The two wrenches are paired in our workshop. The 1-20 Nm version handles cockpit and brake-caliper torques; the 4.2-85 Nm handles the drivetrain side. One bike service almost always reaches for both.

The same electronic mechanism that drives the 1-20 Nm version sits inside the 266B at a wider gauge; the design decision was to keep the readout and feedback consistent across the two wrenches, so the workflow does not change when you swap from one to the other.
Pro tip from our mechanics
Brake-caliper post-mount adapter bolts and crown-bolt torques both live in this range; the same fork service that calls for the 1-20 Nm wrench also calls for this one when the brake comes off the lower leg and goes back on. The two-wrench pair is the bench-side reality of every service that touches both cockpit and drivetrain.
